Drinking water must be provided to each and every household by December 2022 under Jal Jeevan Mission. The officials and employees of Drinking Water & Sanitation department have to work with this goal in association with Power department, stated Drinking Water & Sanitation Minister Sushanta Choudhury in a review meeting on Jal Jeevan Mission held at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala yesterday. He said, Jal Jeevan Mission is one of the five public welfare schemes that are in the priority list of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Work to provide drinking water across the nation is in progress. There are about 19 crore families in the country. Among these families, about 9 crore families have already been provided drinking water connection. He directed the officials to complete the task within the bound time crossing all the challenges and problems faced during the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission. He also directed the officials to discuss and solve the problem of power connection with the officials of the power department so that the work forges ahead.
DWS Minister in the meeting emphasized upon rapid implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in Dhalai district as an Aspirational district. He said, there is scarcity of water in different parts of the ADC areas. He directed the officials to also communicate with ADC administration.
Secretary of DWS department Kiran Gitte elaborately spoke and advised the officials in the meeting on quick implementation of the work. He also directed the officials on timely completion of other tasks as well. Others present in the programme were Chief Engineer of the department Shyamlal Bhowmik, Director Rajib Majumdar, TSECL MD Debashish Sarkar. Department officials from eight district have joined the meeting. Different agencies associated with Jal Jeevan Mission including Assistant Engineers, Executive Engineers and Superintending Engineers have joined the meeting.
