Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that the current state government is always sincere and committed to providing services to the people with transparency.

Dr. Saha said this while addressing a state-level seminar on consumer rights and inaugurating consumer clubs at 100 selected schools and 18 colleges and universities, organized by the Food and Civil Supplies Department at Rabindra Satabarsiki Bhavan on Monday.

“Consumers need to have proper knowledge about consumer protection laws. Therefore, the Food Department should continue to conduct more awareness programs on these laws,” he emphasized.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister urged consumers to be vigilant in collecting the correct cash memo while purchasing any item.

“This will enable consumers to benefit from obtaining proper and speedy legal services. There is a need for awareness programs like this to avoid being scammed in various fields, including buying flats and making online purchases,” he stated.

It should be noted that consumer clubs have been established in 100 schools and 18 universities across the state under the initiative of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs.

He reiterated that the present state government is always sincere and committed to providing transparent services to the people.

“The E-PDS system has already been introduced to bring transparency to the public distribution system. Old ration cards are being converted into PVC cards, which are more durable,” he added.

The Chief Minister also unveiled the first edition of the Food Department’s quarterly magazine, ‘Bhokta Sangbad,’ during the function.

Present at the event were Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury, Justice Arindam Lodh, Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, among others.
