Through a historic agreement, 40,000 Bru people have been resettled across 11 villages with a ₹900 crore rehabilitation package,” Shah said.
He added that these villages now have essential infrastructure, including electricity, roads, drinking water, solar streetlights, schools, health centers, and subsidized grain shops. Shah emphasized that the Bru community has been granted full citizenship rights, including voter enrollment, ration cards, and health cards. “Each family has been allocated a 1,200 sq. ft. plot, and homes have been constructed with government assistance. Additionally, families are receiving ₹5,000 monthly support for two years,” he said.
Shah lauded the government’s achievements in improving basic amenities in Tripura. “During the previous regime, only 2.5% of people had access to tap water. Today, 85% of households have tap water connections. Free ration now reaches 82% of the population, and healthcare expenses up to ₹5 lakh are covered for 80% of residents,” he said.
Highlighting Tripura’s progress, Shah noted that school dropout rates have dropped to below 3%, and enrolment has surged to 99.5%. Investments in infrastructure have brought electricity, roads, and toilets to every household, transforming the state into a hub of development and peace.
Shah also credited the Modi government for restoring stability in Tripura by signing agreements with rebel groups and the Bru Reang community. “Today, Tripura is peaceful and moving forward on the development path envisioned by PM Modi,” he said.
