From an early age, Romio showed signs of exceptional perseverance. With his arms immobile, he learned to write using his toes—a skill that requires unimaginable patience and discipline. While many might have seen his condition as a limitation, Romio transformed it into a unique ability, rewriting the definition of possibility in the process.
A student of Kamalacherra High School, Romio attended his classes regularly, always accompanied by his devoted father. The elder Hrankhawl played a crucial role in his son’s journey, helping him get to school, supporting him during lessons, and encouraging him through every challenge. At home, Romio spent long hours studying diligently, preparing for the state board exams with the same dedication as any other student.
This March, Romio sat for his Madhyamik examination alongside hundreds of regular students. He wrote every paper using his toes, navigating exam halls not only with physical hurdles but also under the silent pressure of being “different.” Yet, when the results were declared, Romio’s name appeared on the list of successful candidates, bringing pride not just to his family and school, but to the entire community.
“I am very happy with his success,” said Romio’s father, his voice thick with emotion. “Romio has always been interested in studies since childhood. Despite his disability, he never gave up. His dream now is to pursue higher education.”
