PMKVY 4.0 launched in Tripura to provide free skill training to 14,000 unemployed youths across healthcare, agriculture, IT, construction, and technical sectors, strengthening employment, entrepreneurship, and self-reliance under the central government’s flagship scheme.
The Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0, one of the Government of India’s flagship skill development initiatives, was formally launched in Tripura on Tuesday with an ambitious target to provide free skill training to nearly 14,000 unemployed youths across the state. The scheme aims to enhance employability, promote self-reliance, and align youth skills with industry requirements.
The launch event was held at the Vivekananda Auditorium of Tripura Medical College and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Teaching Hospital in Hapania. The programme was presided over by Pradeep K., Director of the Department of Skill Development, Government of Tripura. The occasion witnessed participation from doctors, nursing students, trainees, multipurpose workers, ayas, and representatives from various training institutions.
Addressing the gathering, Pradeep K. stated that the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship has approved training for around 14,000 youths aged between 15 and 45 years under PMKVY 4.0. He emphasized that the training will cover a wide range of sectors to ensure better employment opportunities and entrepreneurship development.
In the health and allied sectors, the scheme offers courses such as Front Line Health Care Giving Assistant, Geriatric Care Giver, Emergency Medical Technician, Biomedical Equipment Assistant, Home Health Aide Trainee, Emergency Care Assistant, and General Duty Assistant (GDA). These courses are designed to strengthen the healthcare support system while creating sustainable livelihood opportunities for trained youths.
Apart from healthcare, several three-month skill training programs will be offered in agriculture, IT and ITeS, plumbing, construction, rubber and petrochemicals, logistics, and other technical and service-oriented sectors. These short-term courses are aligned with market demand and industry standards to improve placement prospects.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision is to empower the youth through skill-based education that matches industry needs and global employment trends,” Pradeep K. said. He highlighted that earlier phases of PMKVY—1.0, 2.0, and 3.0—were successfully implemented in Tripura, benefiting thousands of young people through certified training and job placements.
Residential training facilities will also be made available for interested candidates, ensuring access for youths from remote and rural areas. Eligible candidates were urged to enroll at authorized training centers to take advantage of the free skill development opportunity.
