Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually distributed more than 51,000 appointment letters to newly recruited candidates across the country on Saturday during the 19th edition of the Rozgar Mela, a nationwide employment initiative aimed at creating government job opportunities for the youth.
The Rozgar Mela was organised simultaneously at 47 locations across India, covering several states including Delhi, Punjab, West Bengal, and Odisha. The programme was conducted as part of the Centre’s ongoing effort to strengthen employment generation in various ministries and government departments.
Newly appointed candidates expressed excitement and gratitude after receiving their appointment letters. Many described the moment as a reward for years of hard work and dedication.
Speaking in Delhi, one newly recruited candidate said the Prime Minister’s address was highly motivating and filled the gathering with confidence and enthusiasm. The candidate added that the achievement brought immense happiness not only to the recruits but also to their families, who had supported them throughout the preparation period.
Another candidate thanked the Government of India for providing the opportunity and said receiving the appointment letter marked an important milestone in life after years of preparation and effort.
In Kolkata, the Rozgar Mela programme was held at the Dr B.C. Roy Auditorium in Sealdah, where appointment letters were handed over to 188 candidates selected for various government positions. Officials said the event was conducted smoothly with participation from newly recruited employees and government representatives.

The Rozgar Mela initiative has become one of the Centre’s major employment outreach programmes, focusing on transparent recruitment and faster appointment processes in public sector departments.
