According to official sources, as many as 1,04,238 aspirants applied for the Group-C posts under various departments of the Tripura Government.

 On Sunday, the examinations were held in two categories– Paper I for English (10 am to 12 pm) and Paper II for General Knowledge and Current Affairs (2 pm to 4 pm)– in total 436 centres across the state.

 

As per the official report, 81, 536 candidates among the applicants appeared for Paper-I and 81, 463 aspirants appeared for Paper- II. The number of Covid-infected candidates was 7. Five candidates were expelled from the examination for copying. 

There was no report of any untoward incident during the examinations. There were deployment of sufficient security personnel in the examination centres and around 10,000 staff including teachers, healthcare workers and ASHA workers were engaged for smooth conduct of the examination.

 There was mixed response over the sets of question papers among many of the candidates who appeared in the examinations. While some candidates found the questions so hard, for many the questions were common specially in the general knowledge and current affairs segments.

 In the meantime, as many as 40, 256 aspirants among 55, 675 applicants had appeared in the JRBT-conducted examinations for recruitment in 2500 Group-D posts on August 20 last. The examinations were conducted in total 236 centres across the state.

 This was one of the biggest recruitment drives initiated by Biplab Kumar Deb-led BJP-IPFT government since its formation in March 2018. The examinations were held for total 4910 posts– Group C (2410 posts) and Group D (2500 posts). It is learnt that many of the candidates were from 10,323 terminated teachers’ group. 

Apart from this, a good number of TET-qualified teachers were also recruited over the past three years while many of the youths were given contractual jobs in various departments. Meanwhile, another process for recruitment in two IR battalions was also underway.
