Congress leader Sudip Roy Barman said Congress is ready to fight it out in the by-polls and if the party so wanted he would also join the fray from 6-Agartala constituency.
Roy Barman referred to the ULB polls and sought to warn that during the by-poll this time “none will be spared this time if anything goes wrong”.
Roy Barman said, the Congress had already demanded deployment of the Central forces during the polls to ensure free and fair polls.
“We have full faith in the ECI and we expect free and fair polls”, he said.
Barman added, “People are with Congress”, and therefore Congress is not afraid of by-elections.
Talking to the media, another Congress leader Asish Kumar Saha who also quit BJP with Roy Barman and joined Congress said, the government had failed miserably to meet the expectations of the people of the state who voted for the BJP in 2018. Saha said history would be created in June 23 by-polls as people were looking for a way out of this dictatorial regime.
Saha is likely to be a candidate for the Bordowali constituency from where Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha is also likely to contest.
On the other CPM also began hectic preparations. The party leaders said they were fully prepared to contest the elections against the BJP with all forces.
“We are ready to contest the by-elections with full might against the misrule of the BJP government. We shall soon declare our candidates after talks with our frontal organisations,” said CPI-M leader Narayan Kar on Thursday evening.
He slammed the BJP government and said, “this by-election just ahead of the general assembly election is a pressure on people of this state. The by-election was necessitated just because of some BJP leaders who had quit the party to join others except that of Jubarajnagar assembly constituency.”
“People of this state had experienced how the BJP had throttled their democratic voice and restricted them from casting their vote during the previous elections in Tripura. So, we demand restoration of democracy in this state and people are able to cast their democratic right to vote this time,” he told reporters.
