Even before people recovered from the shock over death of three youngsters in Ambassa on Friday, one more boy drowned in Khowai on Saturday.
Sixteen years old Hritinava Bhattacharjee of Masterpara on Khowai had enjoyed the Holi festival with his friends. After the day long celebration five friends went to have bath in a pond where two friends went down under. As the three others raised alarm and screamed, the owner of the pond- whose son was also among one of the friends- rushed in and jumped onto the pond. He somehow managed to pull out one. The boy survived. But when Hritinava was pulled out he was by then lifeless. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors pronounced him dead. Doctors suspected that he died of heart attack for fear of drowning, as there was no water in the stomach.
Student of Derozio Mission School Class X Hritinava would have appeared at the Madhyamik examinations this year. A pall of gloom descended in the entire subdivision. He was only son of Rana Bhattacharjee, an employee of Agriculture department and Shilpi Bhattacharjee of Health Department.
Earlier, on Friday three teenagers aged 13 to 16 drowned in a cherra in Ambassa while bathing after celebrating Holi. They all were sons of BSF jawans of 138 Battalion BSF located at Jaharnagar.
