Tripura unit of National People’s Party led by the former Lok Sabha speaker P A Sangma was launched on Tuesday.
Manipur MLA and NPP national general secretary Mayanglabam Rameshwar Singh launched the state unit of the party and claimed that the party intended to do a politics of development for the welfare of the ‘prajas’ i.e., the people of the state.
“We are here to work in accordance with the aspirations and requirements of the prajas of Tripura. We are to reach to the prajas in every constituency and make a thorough study of their aspirations, so that we are able to render better service to them,” Rameshwar Singh said.
“The way we performed well in Meghalaya and Manipur and we moved from 5% vote shares to 17% vote shares,” he claimed, adding that the NPP would work for the people of this state based on the political connection with the Central government.
He however refused to comment on the current political situation of the state and said, “We do not want to fall prey into any controversies, as we are here to do politics of development.”

Sunil Mohanty explained the relevance of the observance of Narad Jayanti while Manas Pal detailed the evolution of media since the time of the East India Company. In his speech as the keynote speaker Ketkar explained the principles of journalism as mentioned in Bhakti Sutra of Narad.
Bru Sangrama Motha raises 8-pt demands
Bru Sangrama Motha held a seminar at Manpathar Bazar under Santirbazar on Tuesday and discussed 8-point demands for the interest of the Reang community.
Speaking to the media, general secretary of Bru Sangrama Motha, Khanaram Reang alleged a case was filed against the organization without any proof and subsequently the office room of the organization was sealed by the administration. He also said Bru Sangrama Motha moved High Court and everything remains the same, the Office of the Bru Sangrama Motha would be open from Wednesday.
He also highlighted the 8-point demand for the welfare of the Reang people and demanded recognition of the mother tongue of Reang and declaration of Bru Sangrama Puja day as a public holiday etc. Besides, he also demanded a proper investigation of alleged embezzlement of Rs 3 crore 70 lakh allotted for a scheme for the construction of restrooms and hostel from Reang boys and girls.
Khanaram Reang informed the media that the 8-point demand list would be handed over to MDC Sanjib Reang.
Media Certification & Monitoring panel reconstituted
Under the direction of the Election Commission of India, the Chief Electoral Officer of the state by an order has reconstituted the State-Level Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC). The Chairperson of the reconstituted Committee will be the Chief Electoral Officer, Tripura. Members of the Committee will be an observer appointed by the Election Commission of India, Director of Information & Cultural Affairs department, Senior Most Indian Information Service Officer of Doordarshan Kendra, Agartala and Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Tripura.
In the same way, a State-Level Media Certification for Advertisement has also been reconstituted. It’s Chairperson will be Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Tripura. Members of the Committee will be Returning Officer for 8-Town Bardowali, AC and Station Director of Prasar Bharati/AIR/DDK, Agartala. This committee will also have an Intermediary Expert/ Social Media.
