One-day seminar was organised by Longtharai Valley Government Degree College, Chailengta in association with Tripura State Higher Education Council on India’s National Education Policy 2020 at the conference hall of the college yesterday. The theme was “Challenges and Opportunities”. Assistant Professor of Sanskrit department in Tripura University Dr. Sankarnath Tiwari was present in the programme as special guest. Principal In-charge of Longtharai Valley Government Degree College Malswama Darlong presided over the programme. Assistant Professor Dr. Priyadarshi Bahinipat being the Convener of the programme delivered the welcome speech. Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Longtharai Valley Amartya Barman also graced the programme with his presence.

Assistant Professor Dr. Sankarnath Tiwari in the seminar called India’s National Education Policy 2020 to be a great vision and policy framework to have been put forward for complete revival in the education system reflecting government’s aspirations towards learning, education, teaching and research which was approved by the Union Cabinet on July 29, 2020. He said, the government’s recognition of education is a key and strategic instrument in realizing regional and national aspirations and to tap the demographic dividend. The new education policy focuses more on the learning of the students. Therefore, this allows flexibility and has made learning in schools and colleges multi-disciplinary. This would impact open mindedness and allow shifting linear mindsets to lateral thinking in the long run. He also said, this policy has finally breathed due importance to vocational education which will open up significant avenues for the youth of the state and the country. He also emphasized on proper implementation of the policy in all sectors.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Longtharai Valley Amartya Barman in the seminar said, retired employees of private and public sector organisations, civil servants, defence personnel and others may voluntarily fill up the space as teachers and administrators to immediately address the shortfall of teaching staffs. On the other hand, the professors of Longtharai Valley Government Degree College gave their presentation in connection with Internal Quality Assurance Cell. College students also participated in the seminar.
