The School Education department has on Saturday announced the schedule for half-yearly examinations for the Classes- III to VIII.

As per the memorandum undersigned by School Education Director- Chandni Chandran, the half yearly examinations will commence form January 3 and continue till January 10 next.

The timings for the examinations will be from 9 am to 11.30 am for Class- III to V and from 12.30 pm to 3 pm for the students of Class- VI to VIII. The total marks for each subject will be 70 instead of 100.

As per the routine announced by the School Education department, the examination on Mathematics subject will be held on January 3. The schedule for other examinations are- English (January 5), Science (for Class VI-VIII on January 7), Bengali/ Kokborok (January 8) and the examinations on Environmental Studies for Class- III to V and SST for the students of VI-VIII will be held on January 10 next.

The question papers for these subjects will be framed by the Centralized Examination Unit for elementary level on reduced syllabus.

The questions on Sanskrit/ alternative Hindi subjects for Class- VII and VIII and Chakma/ Halam, Kuki-Mizo, Garo, Mog, Manipuri Bishnupriya Manipuri, Hindi, Arabic studies ad Islamic studies for Class III-VIII will be prepared by the respective school authorities.

The notification said, the students with benchmark disabilities would be allowed compensatory time of twenty minutes per hour (total 50 minutes in this Half yearly examination). The students, who desire to avail the benefit, have to produce disability certificates issued by the competent authorities.
