Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has claimed that law and order situation in the state had improved during the BJP-IPFT rule. The Chief Minister who on Sunday held a meeting with the police officials at the field level as well as those who were at the supervising position in presence of DGP Amitabh Ranjan, sought to refute the opposition parties’ claim that law and order situation in the had deteriorated.
“There were such allegation from the opposition parties. But after reviewing the situation with the officials it has been learnt that in fact the situation has improved since 2018”, the Chief Minister said as he was flanked by the top cops.
Dr Saha who is also a Home Minister had ready reference to support his claim.
“While the number of murders has reduced by 15 percent , the dowry deaths figures also came down by 10 percent. Apart from that the Crime Against Women (CAW) also showed 35 percent decline”, said the Chief Minister adding that women help desks (24×7) were also providing services to the common people from all police stations of the state.
“While the opposition raised the law and order issues I though of having a meeting with the concerned officials to get the exact picture. What we found is that it was completely the opposite of what the opposition parties claim”.
The Officers-in-Charge (OCs) of various police stations also joined the meeting where the Chief Minister reviewed the law and order situation and passed necessary instructions. There are 83 police stations, five GRP units, 35 Police Outposts and 300 police camps in the state.
