Kriti Sanon reveals the intense emotional and physical challenges she faced while shooting the pre-climax and climax of “Tere Ishk Mein.” The actress shares insights into her layered character Mukti ahead of the film’s November 28 multilingual theatrical release.

Actress Kriti Sanon, who steps into one of the most complex roles of her career in the upcoming romantic drama Tere Ishk Mein, has revealed how emotionally exhausting and physically challenging the film’s most intense sequences were to shoot. The actress, known for her versatility and consistent ability to portray emotionally charged characters on screen, said that the pre-climax and climax scenes drained her on multiple levels.

In Tere Ishk Mein, releasing on November 28 in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, Kriti Sanon plays Mukti—a character she describes as deeply layered, unpredictable, and emotionally driven. According to her, the transformation of Mukti across the narrative demanded tremendous internal effort, as the character evolves drastically from the beginning of the movie to its final moments.

“Mukti’s character has a very diverse graph, what she starts from, what she ends up becoming, her choices, her decisions… there are a lot of layers to what she is doing,” Kriti explained, reflecting on the complexity embedded in the role. She pointed out that many of Mukti’s motivations remain unspoken, requiring her to convey emotions and intentions silently through expression rather than dialogue. “A lot is sometimes not said, a lot of justification, a lot of things why she is doing what she is, are not said in words.”

This subtle approach to acting, she said, was both refreshing and challenging. “There is no dialogue at times to help you and it just has to be translated in your eyes. That was something new and I really enjoyed it,” she added, highlighting how demanding non-verbal performance can be for an actor.

However, the emotional depth of the character came with its own costs, especially during the film’s most intense moments. Kriti spoke candidly about the heavy toll that shooting the pre-climax and climax scenes took on her mental and physical wellbeing. The scenes, which spanned several days of shooting, required her to repeatedly tap into a heightened emotional state.

“There are a lot of really intense scenes, the pre-climax and the climax, which are very, very long. That was very draining, and we shot it for about 5–6 days,” she said. “Both physically and emotionally those scenes were extremely draining.”

The demanding schedule and the gravity of the scenes affected not just her but the overall energy on set. Kriti noted that she could sense a collective exhaustion among the cast and crew. “I could feel the low energy in everyone around on set and could even feel it in my vanity with my team,” she shared.

The emotional weight of filming did not end when the camera stopped rolling. Kriti admitted that the residue of the intense scenes followed her home. “At times when I went back home it stayed with me, I felt extremely drained. That scene is the peak of emotions and probably the most intense bit of the film, and it pulled me down the most,” she added.

Tere Ishk Mein, an A.R. Rahman musical, is expected to be rich in emotional intensity and visual storytelling. The film is presented by Gulshan Kumar, T-Series, and Colour Yellow. It is produced by Aanand L Rai and Himanshu Sharma, along with Bhushan Kumar and Krishan Kumar. Directed by Aanand L Rai and written by Himanshu Sharma and Neeraj Yadav, the film features lyrics by Irshad Kamil and promises a deeply immersive cinematic experience.

For Kriti, who has consistently been pushing the boundaries of her craft, Tere Ishk Mein marks another milestone in her journey as an actor. With her raw, emotionally grounded performance, the actress is expected to deliver one of her most memorable roles to date.
