Kangana Ranaut defended Aishwarya Rai Bachchan against online trolling over her Cannes 2026 appearance, praising her confidence, individuality, and enduring presence at the prestigious film festival while urging critics to respect older women on global red carpets.

Actress Kangana Ranaut has strongly defended Aishwarya Rai Bachchan after several social media users criticized the veteran actress for her recent appearances at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival.

The controversy erupted after Aishwarya walked the red carpet at Cannes this year in a series of designer outfits that quickly became a topic of online discussion. While many admirers praised her elegance and confidence, several users targeted her appearance, weight, and styling choices. The criticism intensified amid comparisons with actress Alia Bhatt, who also made headlines with her Cannes appearances.

Reacting to the trolling, Kangana took to her official Instagram Stories and shared a photograph of Aishwarya from the international event. The actress emphasized that fashion is a deeply personal form of expression and said that no woman should feel pressured to meet public expectations.

Kangana wrote that style reflects an individual’s personality, interpretation of life, and attitude. She also made it clear that Aishwarya does not owe anyone an explanation regarding her appearance or fashion choices. According to Kangana, the actress looked “great” and carried herself with grace and confidence on the global stage.

The actress further challenged online critics by asking them to “show what you got” if they believed Aishwarya should have appeared differently. Kangana also highlighted the importance of accepting and celebrating older women on red carpets and in the entertainment industry.

Her remarks drew significant attention online, with many users supporting her stance against age-related criticism and unrealistic beauty standards in the film industry. Others praised Kangana for openly speaking against body shaming and online negativity directed at female celebrities.

This year marked Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s 24th appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, making her one of the most recognizable Indian faces associated with the global event. Over the years, she has represented Indian cinema and fashion on the international platform with a wide range of memorable red carpet looks.

For her first appearance this year, Aishwarya wore a custom-made blue gown designed by noted fashion designer Amit Aggarwal. The outfit was complemented by a dramatic stole and diamond jewellery, creating a regal and striking appearance.

In another appearance, the actress wore a pastel pink draped ensemble featuring sparkling floral embellishments and flowing cape sleeves. Her final Cannes look featured a white pantsuit paired with a feather wrap stole, minimal makeup, and a sleek middle-parted hairstyle.

The film is scheduled to release in cinemas on June 12 this year.
