Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, has warned against nuclear negotiations with the US under the current circumstances, stating that they would not serve Iran’s national interests. He further cautioned that such talks could result in major losses for Iran, some of which might be irreparable.
Khamenei criticized the American approach, saying that the U.S. had already determined the outcome of the negotiations by demanding an end to Iran’s nuclear activities and uranium enrichment. He emphasized that such an approach did not constitute genuine negotiations but amounted to dictation and imposition.
Iran initially signed a nuclear deal with world powers in July 2015, agreeing to curb certain aspects of its nuclear program in exchange for the lifting of sanctions. However, the United States withdrew from the agreement in May 2018 and reimposed sanctions, prompting Tehran to gradually reduce its commitments under the deal.
