India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that severe heat wave conditions over Northwest and Central India will start to reduce gradually from today. These regions include parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha.

A gradual fall in maximum temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius is expected over Northwest and Central India during the next 4 days. However, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Uttarakhand will continue to face heat wave conditions today.

Meanwhile, the IMD has also forecast that the Southwest Monsoon has advanced over Kerala and most parts of Northeast India. The weather agency said that widespread to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds will descend over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, and Sikkim during the next 6 days.

Similar conditions will be prevalent over Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra during the next 3 days. In South India, the IMD has predicted these conditions to be present over Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Lakshadweep and Andaman and Nicobar Islands during the next 6 days.
