The first-ever Bishnupriya Manipuri Language Day 2026 was celebrated with enthusiasm and pride at the Mukta Dhara Auditorium in Agartala on Friday. The historic event was organised by the Tripura unit of the Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha in collaboration with the Department of Kokborok and Other Minority Languages, marking a significant milestone nearly 30 years after the day received official recognition.
The celebration began with a colourful traditional rally, followed by the unveiling of seven new books by emerging writers, a felicitation ceremony, and a vibrant cultural programme showcasing the rich heritage of the Bishnupriya Manipuri community.
