At least 14 people have been killed in Bali, Indonesia, following the island’s worst flooding in a decade, triggered by torrential rains that caused rivers to overflow. Two people remain missing in Denpasar, where most fatalities occurred. Hundreds of residents have been evacuated as homes were submerged, roads blocked, and bridges damaged. Rescue teams are facing difficulties reaching affected areas, with parts of Jembrana and Gianyar hit hardest.
A week-long state of emergency is in effect. Popular tourist spots have also been impacted, with waste-clogged drains worsening the situation. Neighbouring East Nusa Tenggara province also reported casualties. Although the rains are easing, Bali remains under a severe weather warning.
