The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday recovered Rs. 20 crores in cash from the house of an associate of West Bengal Minister Partha Chatterjee in connection with an alleged teacher recruitment scam in West Bengal.

The ED raided Arpita Mukerjee’s house from where they seized the huge stash of cash. The probe agency also seized electronic devices, 20 mobile phones and documents related to the scam, local media reports said.

As per media reports, the ED initially launched raids over 14 locations from where the officials seized a document having the name of Arpita Mukherjee following which her residence was raided.

The ED took it to Twitter to inform about the searches linked to the recruitment scams.

“ED is carrying out search operations at various premises linked to recruitment scam in the West Bengal School Service Commission and West Bengal Primary Education Board,” the ED stated.

The search teams are taking the help of bank officials to count the cash through counting machines.

Apart from Chatterjee, the ED also conducted raids on Minister of State for Education Paresh C Adhikary, MLA Manik Bhattacharya and others.

Reacting to the ED raids, Bharatiya Janata Party’s state unit chief Sukanata Majumdar tweeted: This is @MamataOfficial’s Bengal model where cash stolen through illegal means in recruitment scams is coming out now.”

“ED has seized Rs 20 crore from premises of Arpita Mukherjee, close aide of WB Minister Partha Chatterjee. Truly, TMC is breaking all records of corruptions,” he stated.
