The Election Commission of India (ECI) has invited national and state political parties to submit their concerns regarding unresolved electoral issues by April 30, 2025. These issues may pertain to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO), District Election Officer (DEO), or Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), as applicable.
In an official letter sent today, the Commission proposed an interaction with party presidents and senior leaders to further strengthen electoral processes while adhering to established legal frameworks. This initiative aligns with ECI’s ongoing efforts to ensure free and fair elections.
During a recent conference, Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar instructed CEOs, DEOs, and EROs across states and union territories to hold regular discussions with political parties. He emphasized that any concerns raised must be addressed within the existing legal framework, with action-taken reports submitted to the Commission by March 31, 2025.
The ECI reiterated that political parties are key stakeholders in the electoral process, alongside 27 other entities. The Commission highlighted its robust legal foundation, including the Representation of the People Acts of 1950 and 1951 and Supreme Court directives, which ensure a transparent electoral system.
