The All Tripura Blind Committee’s 18th biennial conference in Agartala celebrated differently-abled achievers, with ministers reaffirming inclusive growth. Social Welfare Minister Tinku Roy emphasized dignity, respect, and self-reliance for the differently-abled, while a new committee formed and an 18-point welfare charter was submitted for government action.

Agartala witnessed a heartwarming and inspiring gathering on Sunday as the All Tripura Blind Committee, Central Zone, held its 18th biennial state conference at the Agartala Press Club. The event was a powerful reminder that differently-abled individuals are not defined by their limitations but by their abilities, resilience, and determination.

The day began with a touching and symbolic moment—visually impaired sisters tying rakhis on the guests, an act that radiated humanity, harmony, and affection. This gesture set the tone for an event dedicated to empowerment, inclusion, and recognition of those who often face unique challenges in society.

The conference was graced by prominent dignitaries, including Tripura’s Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy and Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das, along with other distinguished guests.

In his keynote address, Minister Tinku Roy reaffirmed the state government’s unwavering commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas”—a philosophy of inclusive growth. He emphasized that every citizen, regardless of physical or sensory limitations, deserves a dignified life and equal opportunities.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the first leader to truly honor the differently-abled in our society,” Roy stated. “They are not disabled—they are unique. We now call them ‘special children’ and strive to uplift their lives through continuous efforts by both the central and state governments.”

Minister Roy also assured the audience that all possible measures would be taken to support differently-abled individuals in becoming self-reliant. His remarks reinforced the government’s dedication to providing education, skill development, and livelihood opportunities for those facing physical or sensory challenges.

A highlight of the event was the felicitation of visually impaired and differently-abled students who had excelled in their secondary and higher secondary examinations. These achievers stood as living proof of what determination, hard work, and the right support system can accomplish. Their success stories served as inspiration to not only the differently-abled community but to society as a whole.

Scheduled Caste Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das also addressed the gathering, lauding the continuous and sincere efforts of the government to address the needs of the blind and differently-abled communities in Tripura. He stressed that the administration is working tirelessly to enhance their quality of life through better infrastructure, accessibility, and welfare schemes.

An important part of the conference was the formation of a new committee that will serve for the next two years. This body will be responsible for steering various initiatives, addressing pressing issues, and coordinating with both government and non-governmental organizations to achieve meaningful progress.

The All Tripura Blind Committee also presented an 18-point charter of demands to the attending ministers. This document outlined essential measures required for the welfare of visually impaired and differently-abled individuals, ranging from improved educational facilities and vocational training to better healthcare access and employment opportunities.
