Dr. Shankar Chakraborty, the Superintendent of Agartala GBP Hospital, said, there are currently 18 dengue-infected patients admitted to the hospital, with an additional 34 cases reported from the Mohanpur subdivision.
Dr. Chakraborty while speaking to the reporters on Thursday acknowledged that while the dengue menace still lingers in the state, there has been a gradual decrease in the rate of patient admissions to the GBP Hospital. Notably, the hospital has not received any reports of critically infected patients at this time.
In a separate development, Dr. Anup Saha, the Professor of AGMC and GBP Hospital Surgery department, outlined plans to expand the hospital’s surgical capabilities. Dr. Saha announced the scheduling of a two-day laparoscopy surgery camp on August 26 and August 27. He revealed that a total of 116 laparoscopy surgeries had been conducted since February this year, despite a temporary suspension due to insufficient surgical instruments. The hospital has now resolved these issues and will provide laparoscopic surgeries free of charge to patients.
Dr. Saha also discussed the hospital’s determination to establish crucial departments, including transplantation and surgical gastroenterology, to meet the healthcare needs of the state’s residents. Despite facing challenges related to staffing shortages, the administration intends to gradually increase manpower to ensure the effective operation of these departments.
Addressing concerns related to the hospital’s lifts, Dr. Chakraborty mentioned that discussions had been held with the mechanical division of the state Public Works Department (PWD), responsible for overseeing the lifts. The superintendent attributed occasional lift glitches to causes such as overloading and technical malfunctions. He expressed optimism that these technical issues would be promptly resolved.
The updates from Agartala GBP Hospital indicate both the progress made in managing dengue cases and the hospital’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services across various departments. The healthcare professionals and administration continue their dedicated efforts to provide quality medical care to the people of the state.
