Tripura government has increased the Dearness Allowance for the workers ngaged in varioustrades with effect from October 01 last, said Labour minister Bhagaban Das.“The decision will benefit 1.50 lakhs labourers engaged in 20 trades enlisted under the Minimum Wages Act and their families,” he said at a press conference on Friday.
The twenty trades where the workers would get the increased benefit are- road construction or maintenance or building operation, mechanical workshop, Bidi industry, petrol pump, rubber plantation, rice mills, stone breaking and stone crushing shops and establishments, private teaching institute/ coaching school, auto-rickshaw, safai workers, LAMPS and PACS (cooperative), public motor transport, agriculture, domestic workers, goldsmith, workers incense stick making industry and hotel and restaurants.
According to the Labour minister, the hike in Da would benefit the workers in both organized and unorganized sectors.
He said, Tripura is holding the top position in the North Eastern states in terms of bringing the workers of unorganized sectors under the e-SHRAM portal of the central government.
“As of now, 5 lakh workers of the state have been brought under e-SHRAm portal. Among them, over 2.50 lakh workers are involved in Agriculture,” Das told the media. He also spoke on the benefits of registration in the portal.
He said the e-SHRAM registration started in the state on August 26 last. The workers of unorganized sectors may register in the portal through www.eshram.gov.in.
Labour commissioner Naresh Babu and joint commissioner Baijayant Das were present in the press conference.
