Number of different kinds of crime has remarkably dropped in the state under the vigilance of Tripura Police. Plans have been taken to recruit 500 women into Tripura Police, enunciated Biplab Kumar Deb after inaugurating a mega blood donation camp and civic action programme. The Chief Minister felicitated 11 women police volunteers working under Nirbhaya Fund Framework for their special contribution in crime against women. Then he visited the blood donation camp and distributed winter clothes among the poor. Prior to that, the Chief Minister paid prayers to Kali Mandir at Jirania Police Station campus.
Chief Minister in the programme said, numerous plans are being implemented successfully for more women participation in the society besides women empowerment. There will opportunities for women candidates for ratio wise recruitment of 500 womenpolice.He lauded the bravery and dedication of Tripura Police in maintaining peaceful environment in the state, especially when false rumours aboutreligious riotwas spreading. Convict ratio has increased. As a result, number of different kinds of crime has remarkably dropped. The Chief Minister comparing 2019 and 2020 said, number of road accidents has declined to 28.08%, cases of rape dropped to 15.4%, robbery to 62.5%, snatching to 81.8%, crime against women decreased to 15.4%, crime against spouse to 29.4%, eve-teasing to 21.4%, women kidnapping d to 20.3%, home abuse to 21.2%, total women related crimes to 19.6%. With that has increased punishment rate. Comparing 2018 with 2020, punishment rate under IPC has increased to 10%.Punishment rate from 37% to 53%has increased in case of special and local law. Investigation of cases has speeded up.
ICA Minister Sushanta Chowdhury in the programme said, blood has no religion. Humanly service like donating blood is a way to serve the God. More such blood donation events must be organised to tackle the scarcity of blood in the state. He took an example of a man who came all the way from Brahman Bariya, Bangladesh to donate blood for a person needing blood after seeing a viral video asking for urgent blood. Others present in the programme were AGDP Punit Rastogi, West Tripura DM Debapriya Bardhan, Police Super Manik Das.
