Jiten Choudhury, CPM state unit secretary raised a question as to why there was delay by the ruling BJP government in the probe into the Rose Valley scam.
In a press conference, Choudhury said that action against the Rose Valley chit fund company in Tripura had been taken during the Left’s rule. It was also the Left front government that asked for the CBI enquiry into the scam and accordingly some were arrested and many more were interrogated.
“But, during the last four years since the BJP formed government in Tripura, there was no further progress of the enquiry into the scam and it seem BJP has now become the close aide of those chit fund companies.”
“Despite the Rose Valley scam issue under the CBI enquiry, how could the government allow opening of Bar and Entertainment event in the building of Rose Valley Chit fund company,” he questioned.
He alleged that the BJP government had made no further progress with the case and failed to render justice to the people cheated by the Rose Valley. In fact, government was rubbing salt on the wounds of those people now.
The CPM secretary also reiterated his allegation of deteriorating law and order situation across the state and accused the BJP government. Citing an instance of an incident at Moharcherra under Teliamura sub-division that took place on Wednesday itself, Chouhdury presented a video showing an alleged attack on the CPI-M workers.
He said, “the incident in the video took place on Wednesday after a group of BJP activists including some women were found to be attacking our party workers to disturb a party’s programme at Moharcherra in presence of police.”
“Just ahead of the general assembly election, the ruling BJP party had intensified violence across the state with their attacks on the opposition parties. The party had failed to work for the welfare of the people of this state. BJP had snatched the democratic rights of the common citizens of this state,” Choudhury alleged.
IN the meantime a violent faceoff between ruling BJP and opposition CPM could be averted at the last moment at Moharcherra on Wednesday.
Both the rival parties came face to face when they chose the same venue Morgaonpara school at the same time. The CPM had called a rally to protest against the price hike and the party cadres thronged at the school ground . CPM secretary Jitendra Choudhury along with former MLA Manidra Das and others was also present there. At the same time the BJP Yuva Morcha workers also went there to carry out Swachha Bharat Abhiyan. Both the parties claimed they had prior permission for the gathering.
As the activists of the two parties faced each other, tension ran high and situation turned extremely volatile. However, the administration immediately sent TSR, CRPF jawans and huge posse of police personnel from Teliamura and Kalyanpur police stations. They took positions in between the two groups and set the water cannon to meet any fall out. However, at the height of tension CPM cadres started dispersing from the venue and the situation ultimately brought under control.
