Tripura CM Dr. Saha distributes appointment letters to 15 new Food Inspectors, highlighting transparent recruitment of 19,262 government employees. A mega blood donation camp also held, stressing merit-based employment and food security initiatives across the state.

Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the commitment of the state government towards transparency and merit-based recruitment during a special appointment letter distribution ceremony held at Pragya Bhavan, Agartala. The event marked the formal appointment of 15 new Food Inspectors through the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC), further strengthening the state’s food safety and distribution infrastructure.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister announced that a total of 19,262 individuals have been recruited into government service since the present government took office, including appointments under the die-in-harness scheme. He emphasized that every job was awarded purely on merit and not through political or external influence. “Today, employment is granted based on skill and hard work. No one can say these appointments were influenced by power or politics,” Dr. Saha stated.

The event was also marked by the inauguration of a mega blood donation camp organized jointly by the Departments of Food, Consumer Affairs, Transport, and Tourism. Dr. Saha personally visited the camp and encouraged voluntary blood donors, appreciating their contribution to society.

Food Minister Sushanta Chowdhury noted that such collaborative social initiatives among departments demonstrate a commitment beyond administrative duties. He reiterated the government’s pledge to a transparent recruitment process that prioritizes capability and fairness.

Highlighting employment growth in the Food Department, the Chief Minister revealed that in the past year alone, 37 Lower Division Clerks (LDCs) and 19 Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) were recruited through the Joint Recruitment Board of Tripura (JRBT). Further recruitment is ongoing for 12 Sub-Inspectors, 3 Fumigation Assistants, 6 Storekeepers, and 35 Store Guards.

Dr. Saha also detailed the state’s ongoing efforts to maintain food security. Approximately 6.06 lakh Priority Household (PHH) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) families are being provided with free rice. Additionally, 3.83 lakh Above Poverty Line (APL) families receive subsidized rice.

Over 9.81 lakh ration cardholders are receiving subsidized essential commodities like flour. Since 2018, the state government has procured 2.25 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from farmers at Minimum Support Price (MSP), with ₹446 crore directly transferred to their bank accounts.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, 3,64,847 LPG connections have been distributed. To increase efficiency in the public distribution system, modern e-PoS machines have been introduced at ration shops.

Concluding the event, Dr. Saha stated, “There is no alternative to blood. Donating blood is a reflection of unity, humanity, and social responsibility.”
