CM Manik Saha praises PM Narendra Modi’s focus on bamboo industry in Mann Ki Baat, highlighting its role in boosting Tripura and Northeast economy, promoting sustainable development, rural employment, and strengthening traditional industries.
A renewed push toward sustainable industries and rural livelihoods took center stage as political leaders gathered to listen to the latest national broadcast highlighting grassroots innovation and development.
Chief Minister Manik Saha on Sunday attended the 133rd episode of Mann Ki Baat delivered by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The listening session was organized at Booth No. 82 of 85 South Krishnanagar in Kolkata, where several party leaders and workers gathered to hear the monthly address.
Following the broadcast, Dr. Saha expressed strong appreciation for the Prime Minister’s continued emphasis on inspirational storytelling and developmental themes. He noted that each episode of the program serves as a platform to highlight transformative initiatives and motivate citizens from diverse backgrounds.
Particular attention was drawn to the bamboo industry, which received a prominent mention in the latest episode. Dr. Saha described the recognition as a moment of pride for Tripura and the wider Northeastern region. He emphasized that bamboo, often referred to as “green gold,” has increasingly become a cornerstone of sustainable economic activity in the region.
According to the Chief Minister, the growing focus on bamboo-based industries is opening new pathways for employment generation, especially in rural and semi-urban areas. He added that the sector’s expansion aligns with broader goals of environmental sustainability, given bamboo’s eco-friendly properties and rapid growth cycle.
“The attention given to the bamboo sector highlights its rising importance in shaping the region’s economic future,” Dr. Saha stated. “It is encouraging to see how this industry is creating livelihoods while also promoting sustainable development.”
The event was also attended by senior political figures, including former West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh and Kalyanpur MLA Pinaki Roy Choudhury, along with other party members. Their participation underscored the collective interest in leveraging national initiatives for regional growth.
Dilip Ghosh echoed similar sentiments, pointing out that the Prime Minister’s acknowledgment of bamboo craftsmanship resonates with ongoing efforts to promote cottage industries. He highlighted that such recognition not only boosts morale among artisans but also strengthens initiatives aimed at preserving traditional skills and cultural heritage.

By spotlighting sectors like bamboo, the program continues to bridge the gap between policy and grassroots impact, encouraging states to harness their unique strengths for long-term progress.
