FTA between India, New Zealand to improve market access for Indian goods: Piyush Goyal

Must Read

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that India and New Zealand will sign a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) in New Delhi today, marking a significant step towards strengthening economic ties between the two countries.

Speaking during his visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra with New Zealand’s Minister for Trade and Investment, Todd McClay, Mr Goyal said the agreement was finalised after years of high-level discussions and will be signed in the presence of both leaders. The FTA aims to double bilateral trade to five billion dollars over the next five years.

Highlighting its economic benefits, Mr Goyal said the agreement will significantly improve market access for Indian goods and boost trade opportunities. He also met local business owners in Agra from sectors such as leather, textiles, handloom, handicrafts, carpets and spices and praised their work.

He said Agra will play an important role in India’s future exports, adding that enhanced market access and stronger trade ties with New Zealand will support the growth of the city’s industrial sector.
