Tripura CM Manik Saha claims strong public support for BJP’s solo fight in TTAADC polls, alleging corruption by Tipra Motha and urging voters to ensure a decisive mandate on April 12 for tribal development and political stability.
In a politically charged atmosphere ahead of the crucial Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, Chief Minister Manik Saha on Thursday asserted that the people of tribal areas are strongly backing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) decision to contest independently in all 28 seats.
Addressing a massive public rally at Kathalia Bazar under the Birchandranagar-Kalsi constituency, Saha said that the public mood clearly reflects a desire for a “strong and clear alternative,” which, according to him, the BJP represents. Campaigning in support of party candidate Sanjeev Reang, the Chief Minister expressed confidence that the BJP is poised to form the next council government in the TTAADC.
The TTAADC, a politically significant autonomous body governing nearly two-thirds of Tripura’s geographical area, is set to go to polls on April 12. Currently governed by the Tipra Motha Party since 2021, the council has become a key battleground for political dominance in tribal regions.
Saha alleged that while elections should ideally be conducted in a festive and democratic atmosphere, the Tipra Motha Party is attempting to create fear and tension among voters. He urged people to remain alert and not fall prey to intimidation tactics or misinformation campaigns.
Launching a strong attack on Tipra Motha, the Chief Minister accused the party of failing to deliver any meaningful development during its five-year tenure. He further alleged that corruption has been rampant, with funds meant for tribal welfare being misused. According to Saha, the people of the region are now ready to respond democratically to these alleged failures.
“The people want development, transparency, and honest governance. They have seen what Tipra Motha has done, and now they want change,” Saha said, urging voters to cast their ballots fearlessly in favor of the BJP.
Earlier in the day, while addressing another rally at Behalabari under the Halahali-Asharambari constituency, Saha reiterated that if the BJP comes to power in the ADC, the “face of tribal areas will change completely.” He emphasized the need for leadership that understands grassroots problems and works sincerely for the upliftment of marginalized communities.

The Chief Minister also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi, stating that he has consistently prioritized tribal development and welfare. Saha said the BJP government at both the central and state levels is committed to inclusive growth and ensuring that no section of society is left behind.
Taking a sharp dig at Tipra Motha, Saha claimed that after the election results on April 17, the party would “not be found anywhere.” He accused its leaders of hypocrisy, alleging that while they claim to represent the poor, they campaign using helicopters funded by money “looted from the people.”
In another rally held at Kalacherra Motor Stand in South Tripura, where he campaigned for BJP candidate Abhijit Tripura, Saha reiterated that Tipra Motha’s defeat in the ADC polls is certain. He accused the party of misleading people through violence, coercion, and disruptive tactics, including forcing shops to shut down ahead of public meetings.
“Kicking someone’s livelihood is unacceptable. Politics should not come at the cost of people’s daily survival,” he remarked.
Saha also criticized the opposition’s narrative, including allegations of a political understanding between BJP and Tipra Motha. He dismissed such claims as attempts to confuse voters. He pointed out that during previous elections, opposition parties themselves had instances of indirect cooperation, questioning their credibility.
In addition, the Chief Minister targeted opposition leaders, including those from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) and Indian National Congress, accusing them of spreading misinformation and lacking a constructive agenda. He emphasized that while the BJP is focused on strengthening the nation, opposition parties are engaged in divisive politics.
Saha also highlighted the rapid growth of the BJP’s tribal wing, stating that despite alleged intimidation and blackmail attempts, the party has strengthened significantly within a short period. He said the decision to contest alone reflects the BJP’s confidence and commitment to providing stable governance.

Calling upon voters to “create history,” Saha urged large-scale participation in the April 12 polls to ensure a decisive victory for the BJP. He stressed that such a mandate is essential for accelerating development and ensuring a corruption-free administration in the tribal areas.
With the high-stakes TTAADC elections approaching, political tensions continue to rise, setting the stage for a closely watched electoral battle that could reshape the political landscape of Tripura’s tribal regions.
