BJP demands probe into alleged recruitment irregularities and corruption in Tripura TTAADC, citing non-transparent appointments, audit lapses, and mismanagement of public funds, urging Governor to order impartial inquiry to ensure accountability and restore trust in governance.
Fresh allegations surrounding administrative functioning in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) have triggered a political confrontation, with demands for an independent investigation into recruitment practices and financial management.
The Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has formally submitted a memorandum to the state Governor, raising concerns over alleged corruption and procedural violations within the TTAADC administration headquartered in Khumulwng. The party has called for an impartial probe to examine what it describes as “serious irregularities” affecting governance in the autonomous council areas.
According to the memorandum, the BJP’s state executive committee has accused the council administration of widespread mismanagement of public funds and a lack of transparency in decision-making processes. A key allegation relates to the recruitment of candidates to Group C and Group D posts. The party claims that around 120 appointments were made hastily during the election period without proper notification or adherence to established recruitment norms.
The memorandum argues that such actions undermine fairness and equal opportunity in public employment, potentially disadvantaging qualified candidates. It further alleges that the recruitment drive was conducted in a non-transparent manner, raising questions about accountability and administrative integrity.
In addition to recruitment concerns, the BJP has highlighted issues related to financial discipline. The party claims that mandatory audit mechanisms were not followed during the tenure of the council administration. It also referenced observations made by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, which reportedly flagged discrepancies and recommended corrective measures.
Seeking intervention, the party has urged the Governor to initiate a thorough and unbiased inquiry to establish the facts. The memorandum emphasizes that such an investigation is necessary to restore public trust and ensure that governance in the TTAADC aligns with legal and constitutional standards.
The TTAADC, which operates under the provisions of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India, plays a crucial role in administering tribal areas in the state. Allegations of irregularities within its functioning carry significant implications for governance and development in these regions.
Speaking to reporters at the party’s state headquarters, senior BJP leader and former Member of Parliament Rebati Tripura criticized the current administration’s performance. He stated that the leadership, which came to power promising transparency and accountability, has failed to meet public expectations.

He further remarked that the administration’s actions appear inconsistent with its earlier commitments to the welfare and upliftment of indigenous communities. According to him, the alleged irregularities have particularly affected the aspirations of young job seekers in the council areas.
The BJP’s demand for a probe has added a new dimension to the political landscape in Tripura, especially in the context of governance in tribal regions. Whether the Governor orders an inquiry and how the administration responds to these allegations will be closely watched in the coming days.
