Vijayalakshmi Sadhu urges Congress grassroots revival in Tripura through Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan, focusing on booth-level restructuring, leadership development, membership drives, and outreach programs to strengthen organizational presence and reconnect with citizens.

A renewed push to strengthen grassroots structures has been emphasized as a key priority for the Congress party in Tripura, with senior leadership calling for organizational revival from the lowest levels upward. Addressing a press conference at the Pradesh Congress headquarters in Agartala on Sunday, Vijayalakshmi Sadhu, AICC Observer for Sadar District and former Madhya Pradesh minister, outlined a comprehensive strategy aimed at rebuilding the party’s base across the state.

She stressed that the revival effort must begin at the booth level and extend systematically to block and district units, ensuring a strong and connected organizational framework. According to her, the party’s future depends on nurturing new leadership and maintaining closer engagement with the public. The initiative, she explained, is part of the broader ‘Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan,’ which seeks to re-establish Congress as a people-centric force while reinforcing democratic values.

Sadhu highlighted concerns over what she described as the erosion of constitutional rights under the current BJP-led government. She asserted that the campaign would not only focus on strengthening the party internally but also on raising awareness among citizens about issues affecting their rights and freedoms. By reconnecting with the public at the grassroots level, the party aims to rebuild trust and expand its influence in Tripura’s political landscape.

The strategy includes appointing dedicated District Congress Committee presidents, conducting membership drives, and organizing training programs for party workers. These steps are intended to energize the cadre and create a more active and visible presence across the state. Outreach initiatives are being planned in phases to ensure sustained engagement with communities and effective communication of the party’s message.

Emphasizing the ideological roots of the Congress, Sadhu described the party as more than just a political entity. She pointed to its historical role in India’s freedom struggle and called for a renewed commitment to its core principles. According to her, reviving these values among the people is essential for the party’s resurgence.

The press conference was attended by several senior leaders, including Ashok Debbarma, Kartik Debnath, Nigamananda Goswami, and Tanmoy Roy, indicating a coordinated effort within the state unit. Additionally, observers from the central leadership have been deployed in key districts such as Dharmanagar and Belonia to monitor progress and report developments to the All India Congress Committee.

Party insiders view the campaign as a crucial step toward rebuilding the Congress’s organizational strength in Tripura. With a structured approach and renewed focus on grassroots engagement, the initiative is expected to shape the party’s strategy in the coming months, setting the stage for increased political activity and outreach across the state.
