

In an attempt to get the students proactively involved into a process that enhances the development of a better understanding of bio-resources and to make them aware as to how bio technology could play a key role in the society and human life, Tripura government was expanding the DNA Club schemes in more schools.
In Tripura while 52 schools had been included in the DNA Club schemes earlier, of late, 30 more schools were also brought under the scheme.
On Tuesday Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, also the Chairman of Tripura Bio Technology Council, inaugurated a workshop at Tripura State Pollution Control Board Office on DNA Club for Head masters and in-charge Head masters of the newly inducted schools.
“We are taking all steps to make the students and children aware of the importance of bio diversity and how its protection and preservation play the important role in human life and existence of the planet”, said Dev Varma adding that the workshop would help the school managements to implement the scheme in better ways.
Apart from Dev Varma, Tripura Bio-Technology Council secretary Dr Pradip Chakraborty, Member secretary of the Council, Animesh Das, professor of Bio diversity of Tripura Central University, Dr Sabyasachi Dasgupta were present in the workshop. The workshop was organized by
Dev Varma also handed over Rs 15 Lakh to the Head masters and in-charges of 12 schools in the first phase. The amount would be used for purchasing laboratory equipment, conducting Science related practical, quizzes and lectures on biodiversity and also for educational tours at bio diversity spots. Under the scheme, different types of microscopes, chemical balance, Herbarium Cabinet, lab models and other equipment were provided.
