Preparations are in full swing as Bihar heads to the assembly polls in the first phase tomorrow. Our correspondent from Vaishali district reports that 105 candidates are contesting across eight assembly seats, with key constituencies like Raghopur, Mahnar, and Mahua witnessing a fierce battle between the ruling NDA and the Mahagathbandhan.
Electors across all eight assembly segments of Vaishali district will cast their votes tomorrow in the first phase of the Bihar Assembly elections. The constituencies include Raghopur, Vaishali, Hajipur, Mahua, and Mahnar. Raghopur, a stronghold of former Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav’s family since 1995, will witness a high-profile contest as RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav seeks a third consecutive win. To defeat Mr Yadav in the political battleground, BJP has fielded former MLA Satish Kumar against him from the Raghopur seat. This time, 101 all-women polling booths, 50 model booths, one youth booth and booths operated by Person with disabilities has been set up across the district.
Over 25 lakh voters are eligible to vote this time, including around 48 thousand first-time voters. As part of the ECI’s International Election Visitors’ Programme 2025, 16 delegates from six countries have arrived in Patna this evening to observe the polling process. Talking to media, District Magistrate of Vaishali, Varsha Singh informed that the team will visit five booths, including an all-women booth, a PwD booth, a model booth, and a youth booth. Voters across Vaishali’s eight constituencies will seal their mandate in the EVMs tomorrow, and counting of votes will take place on 14th of this month.
