Polling is underway for the Assembly elections in Assam, Keralam, and the Union Territory of Puducherry. Voters are casting their votes for 126 seats in Assam, 140 seats in Keralam and 30 seats in Puducherry. The Election Commission has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure free, fair, and peaceful polling.
In Assam, a 75.91% polling percentage was recorded till 3 PM. Maximum voter turnout of 84.24% was witnessed in the South Salmara-Mankachar district. In Keralam, 62.71% voter turnout was recorded till 3 PM. A maximum of 66% polling percentage was witnessed in the Ernakulam district. In the Union Territory of Puducherry, 72.40% voting was recorded till 3 PM.
In Nagaland, peaceful polling is underway across all 30 polling stations for the by-election to the 28th Koridang Assembly Constituency in the Mokokchung district. The polling percentage till 3 PM stands at 61.21%. Polling began at 7 AM amid heightened security arrangements and will continue till 4 PM.
Meanwhile, today is the last day for withdrawal of nominations for the first phase of polling in West Bengal and the last day for filing of nominations for the second phase of polling in the State. Counting of votes for Assam, Keralam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and the Union Territory of Puducherry will take place on the 4th of May.
