Ravi Shankar Prasad leads Indian MPs to Germany in anti-terror push

Must Read

An all-party Indian delegation led by Ravi Shankar Prasad arrived in Germany under Operation Sindoor to reinforce India’s zero-tolerance policy on terrorism. The team will engage with German officials, think tanks, and the Indian diaspora, showcasing India’s united front against global terrorism.

As part of India’s strengthened diplomatic outreach under Operation Sindoor, a nine-member all-party parliamentary delegation led by senior BJP leader and Member of Parliament Ravi Shankar Prasad arrived in Germany on June 5, 2025. The visit marks another milestone in India’s foreign policy strategy that seeks global support against terrorism and promotes national unity across party lines.

India’s Ambassador to Germany, Ajit Gupte, welcomed the delegation upon their arrival in Berlin, underscoring the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in advancing national interests. The Indian Embassy in Germany shared the update via social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating that the delegation’s visit will “convey India’s united and resolute stand against terrorism.”

The delegation’s visit is a clear demonstration of India’s zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism, an issue that transcends political boundaries. With representatives from the BJP, Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), AIADMK, and other parties, the group signifies bipartisan consensus on one of India’s most critical national security issues.

Apart from Ravi Shankar Prasad, the delegation includes:

  • Daggubati Purandeswari (BJP)

  • MJ Akbar (BJP)

  • Gulam Ali Khatana (BJP)

  • Samik Bhattacharya (BJP)

  • Amar Singh (Congress)

  • Priyanka Chaturvedi (Shiv Sena – UBT)

  • M Thambidurai (AIADMK)

  • Pankaj Saran, former diplomat

The delegation will be in Germany from June 5 to June 7, 2025, during which it will meet with senior dignitaries from the German Parliament (Bundestag) and the Federal Foreign Office. Additionally, interactions are scheduled with:

  • Leading German think tanks

  • Influential members of the Indian diaspora

  • Policy experts and analysts in international relations and security

These engagements are aimed at bolstering India’s global campaign to build strong bilateral and multilateral cooperation against terrorism, while also strengthening people-to-people and inter-parliamentary ties between India and Germany.

The visit to Germany comes right after the delegation concluded a similar outreach in Belgium, further emphasizing India’s diplomatic continuity and strategic alignment with European partners in the fight against terrorism.

India’s efforts under Operation Sindoor highlight its proactive global stance on security issues. By rallying support across political lines and reaching out to international partners, India aims to strengthen its position as a key stakeholder in maintaining regional and global peace.

As international concerns about terrorism remain high, India’s parliamentary diplomacy is expected to pave the way for more collaborative actions on intelligence sharing, counter-terrorism strategies, and cross-border security frameworks.
