In a bid to modernize and improve the state’s healthcare and social services, Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy launched the Anganwadi Inspection and Monitoring System (AIMs) Mobile Application on Thursday. The launch event took place at the Institute of Speech Rehabilitation in UjanAbhoynagar and was attended by AMC Council member Hiralal Debnath, SW & SE Department Director Tapan Kumar Das, and Additional Director L Ranchal, among other officials.

The AIMs Live App is designed to streamline the monitoring and implementation of Anganwadi services across the state, ensuring that these centers function more effectively. Speaking at the event, Roy highlighted the state’s efforts to improve the quality of education, nutrition, and facilities at Anganwadi centres. “The state government is committed to upgrading around 10,000 Anganwadi centres, benefiting approximately 4 lakh children. We are focused on improving essential facilities such as electricity, drinking water, toilets, vegetable cultivation, and sports activities,” said the minister.

One of the key features of the AIMs app is its ability to enable real-time tracking of services provided to mothers and children at Anganwadi centres. “This app will allow for realistic monitoring using technology. Departmental supervisors and staff will now be able to track and report services, ensuring that targets are met effectively,” Roy added. The app’s functionality requires users to be within 50 meters of an Anganwadi centre to submit reports, automatically generating data on visits and allowing for the uploading of pictures for assessment.

In addition to launching the AIMs app, the minister inaugurated the upgradation of a speech rehabilitation school to class V, which will now provide free accommodation and education to 50 mute and deaf students, with future plans for upgrading the school to the secondary level.

Nutritional kits were also distributed to pregnant women and malnourished girls, and the event saw the celebration of a ‘Rice Ceremony’ for a 6-month-old infant and a ‘baby shower’ for a pregnant woman.
