The state government would spend around Rs. 80 crore under Asian Development Bank-funded project for the development of Sabroom town, said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb after inaugurating a hospital in Sabroom sub-division.
Deb was accompanied by Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar, local MLA Sankar Roy and others.
Expressing hope, he said the newly-inaugurated 100-bed hospital would largely benefit the people of Sabroom in healthcare services. The Sabroom Sub-Divisional Hospital has been constructed at an expenditure of around Rs. 13.5 crore.
“A specialist medical officer (medicine) has been posted in the hospital. Recently, 256 doctors have been recruited in 39 days, so there will be no shortage of doctors”, said the Chief Minister.
The new healthcare facility came as a major boost to health services for the people of the entire Sabroom sub-division. It was a long-standing demand of the people that came true , he said.
Later speaking to the media, Deb said Sabroom would get the maximum benefits of the development process with the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), Integrated Check Post (ICP), Maitri Setu and Logistics Hub and this town would be the gateway.
The Chief Minister along with others visited various units of the hospital and also laid foundation stone for an oxygen plant in the hospital premises.
Deb along with the Union Minister of State then took part in a programme organized by Sabroom Nagar Panchayat where 34 women were given sewing machines and 25 women were given bicycles. Besides, wheel chairs among Divyangjans and Ayushman Cards among two beneficiaries were distributed. Meanwhile, the Union Minister of State visited Gomati District Hospital and inspected the existing facilities. She also visited the Maitri Setu built over the river Feni.
