The Santirbazar Municipal Council (SMC) office building was inaugurated by Minister for Social Welfare & Social Education Santana Chakma on Tuesday. Minister Santana Chakma in the programme lauded the sincerity and dedication of the officials involved in the successful construction of the building. She hoped that this building would open a new chapter for the residents of Santirbazar towards a brighter future.
She said, the elected members of the Santirbazar Municipal Council and local administration should come forward and work together for the development of the people. “We might have problem of water logging in drainage system, scarcity of water and proper roads in the area but the government is taking every necessary step to overcome these setbacks and for that the public must come forward and help each other”.
The minister maintained that the present government was looking forward to increase mandays under TUEPfor the best interest of people. She urged the beneficiaries of PMAY to utilize the fund given for construction of the house. She instructed the local administrative officials to look into the matter of price hike of cement, bricks, sand and other construction materials in the markets and to poor people to build house. She also urged the people of Santirbazar to come forward and help the local representatives towardsbuildingself-sufficient Tripura.
MLA Pramod Reang in the programme said, the local administration has already mapped the Santirbazar Municipal Council area for implementing various development work. He urged the local representatives to restart the development work as soon as possible. He also lauded the peopleof Santirbazar for keeping the town clean and hoped that the Santirbazar Municipal Council will continue to keep up the good work even in the days to come.
Santirbazar SDM Abhedananda Baidya in his welcome speech thanked the stake holders and briefed on the status of developmental activities undertaken by SMC. The total cost of the project was Rs 252.71 Lakh.
Sabhadhipati of South Tripura Zilla Parishad Kakali Das (Datta) as President of the programme, Sahakari Sabhadhipati of South Tripura Zilla Parishad Bibhishan Chandra Das, BAC Chairman of Bokafa RD Block Gouri Shankar Reang, Panchayat Samiti Chairman of Bokafa RD Block Sridam Das as Guest of Honour, DM of South Tripura Saju Vaheed A. and Deputy Director of Urban Development Department Santosh Deb as special guest and several other dignitaries were present at the function.
