Tripura is now all set to celebrate her 50 years of the statehood day in January 2022. Various colourful events across the state will mark the three-day long programme- from January 19-21 with involvement of almost all government departments, PSUs and socio-cultural bodies.
During these three days the state would showcase its rich heritage, cultural legacy with special focus on the state’s growth in spheres during the last 50 years.
On Monday, an ICA press communiqué said, a preparatory meeting was held at Civil Secretariat conference hall that outlined the plan for observing the day in a grand manner.
The meeting was presided over by the Chief Secretary Kumar Alok. He said that the 50th year of Tripura’s full statehood must be a day of glory for the state. Tripura has achieved remarkable success in various fields since its inception. The state needs to take steps to make these achievements more accessible to the people, he said.
The Chief Secretary emphasized on organizing large scale workshops on the significant public welfare programs of various departments to mark the statehood day of Tripura.
ICA secretary Prashant Kumar Goel who attended the preparatory meeting said that various events would be organized in Agartala from January 19 to January 21 to mark the 50th anniversary which include food festivals, cultural evenings, exhibitions of local handicraft and handicraft products, live painting, sit-and-debate competitions, bicycle marathons, etc.
He said the main state level programme will be held on January 21 at Rabindra Bhawan, where Citizen and Statehood Day Awards will be presented. Booklets, postage stamps and documentaries on the success of the state will also be presented in the programme.
A state level committee was constituted under the chairmanship of Principal Secretary Sriram Taranikanti to make the celebration a grand success.
Secretary of the Tourism Department Kiran Gitte, Secretary of the Cooperatives Department Abhishek Chandra, Secretary of the Fisheries Department Deepa.D. Nair, Secretary of the Department of Agriculture Apurba Roy and other officials of the Information and Culture Department among others remained present in the preparatory meeting on Monday.
