Trinamool Congress in its election manifesto for the Agartala Municipal Council polls came out with broadly nine specific promises. The TMC also named its manifesto as Agartalar Jonno Nabaratna (Nabaratna for Agartala).

Senior TMC leaders , mostly from Kolkata but with Convenor Subal Bhowmik with them released the manifesto in a city hotel Monday.

The TMC manifesto proposed several welfare activities including tax relief for residents, free public WiFi in 4 major spots of Agartala, 100 percent CCTV coverage, safe and secure women’s transport, upgradation of sewerage infrastructure, modernization of waste management, citizen’s convenience centre, Hello Mayor, upgradation of health facilities, water ATM for every ward of AMC, smart bio toilet in every ward, tax-free water, hawkers’ welfare and welfare of Municipality staff.
TMC MP Sushmita Dev said the manifesto reflected the public opinion and survey and in case of the people outside the AMC also, the party would take decisions based on public opinion. Replying to a query regarding the party’s expectation, she said, “if BJP doesn’t capture the booths then TMC will win.”
Subal Bhowmik hinted that TMC was ready to form alliance with any regional party for the 2023 polls but he said that the party never supports separate state demand. In this context, Dev said the party definitely respects the sentiment of the people and this is the first priority.

TMC MP to Rajya Sabha- Sukhendu Shekar Ray alleged that 11 among the 28 women candidates of the TMC in the AMC were attacked. He blamed BJP for such attacks.

The TMC leaders from West Bengal including Indranil Sen, Soham Chakraborty, June Malia, Manoj Tiwari and Arpita Ghosh were also present.

Meanwhile, soon after release of the poll manifesto, the TMC-nominated candidates took a pledge that they would leave no stone unturned to deliver real development to the people.

On the other hand, replying to a query on misleading the court with ‘false affidavit’, Sushmita Dev said, “I am a lawyer myself. If you think I misled the Supreme Court then take appropriate action against me– who is stopping you?”
