Shraddha Kapoor portrays legendary Lavani dancer Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar in the upcoming film ‘Eetha’. The trailer, featuring energetic folk dance sequences and music by Ajay-Atul, has been unveiled ahead of its December 4, 2026 theatrical release.

Bollywood actress Shraddha Kapoor is set to portray one of Maharashtra’s most celebrated folk performers, legendary Lavani dancer Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, in the upcoming film ‘Eetha’. The makers unveiled the much-awaited trailer on Friday, offering audiences a glimpse of Shraddha’s transformation into the iconic artist known for her extraordinary contribution to Marathi folk culture.

The trailer introduces viewers to the struggles and emotional journey of the central character. It begins by highlighting her internal conflicts, self-doubts and moments of lost hope before she finds renewed strength and returns to the world of traditional Tamasha performances. As the story progresses, her dedication, talent and determination help her earn recognition, respect and admiration from audiences.

One of the major highlights of the trailer is its energetic Lavani dance sequences, which bring Maharashtra’s traditional folk performance culture to the forefront. The fast-paced editing, vibrant visuals and pulsating musical arrangements create an engaging cinematic experience. Music composer duo Ajay-Atul have provided the film’s music, adding a strong folk-inspired musical flavour to the dance performances.

Shraddha Kapoor’s performance reflects her connection with Marathi culture and traditions. Through expressive dance movements, powerful screen presence and an effort to capture the spirit of the legendary performer, the actress presents a character rooted in Maharashtra’s rich artistic heritage.

The film also features Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Nana Patekar, Randeep Hooda and Anant Joshi in important roles. Their presence adds further interest to the upcoming project, which aims to bring the extraordinary life and achievements of a celebrated folk artist to the big screen.

‘Eetha’ is inspired by the real-life story of Vithabai Bhau Mang Narayangaonkar, widely recognised as one of Maharashtra’s most influential Lavani dancers and Tamasha performers. Born into a family of traditional Tamasha artists, Vithabai developed a passion for singing, dancing and acting at a very young age.

Through her exceptional artistic abilities, expressive performances and dedication, she gradually established herself as a leading figure in Maharashtra’s traditional entertainment industry. She earned widespread recognition and became popularly known as the ‘Tamasha Samradni’ (Empress of Tamasha).

Her journey was marked by courage, determination and perseverance. Despite facing personal challenges and financial difficulties, Vithabai continued performing and contributing to the preservation and promotion of Maharashtra’s traditional folk culture. Beyond her own performances, she also worked towards supporting the welfare of fellow Tamasha artists.

Her contribution received national recognition, including Presidential honours for her work in folk art. In recognition of her lasting influence, the Maharashtra government established the Vithabai Narayangaonkar Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. The award honours individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the traditional Tamasha art form.
