Suriya’s upcoming film Scene, directed by Jithu Madhavan, has unveiled a glimpse of his character DSP Inbaraj. The video introduces a street-smart, unconventional police officer ahead of the film’s worldwide theatrical release on November 6 for Deepavali.

The makers of director Jithu Madhavan’s upcoming film Scene, starring actor Suriya in the lead role, have released a glimpse video introducing his character, DSP Inbaraj. The video offers audiences a first look at Suriya as an unconventional police officer, generating further interest in the film ahead of its scheduled worldwide theatrical release on November 6 for Deepavali.

Suriya shared the character glimpse on his X account with the message, “Hello Dear All, With love, DSP Inbaraj.” The promotional video introduces a police officer whose street-smart attitude, unusual methods and humorous interactions set him apart from conventional cinematic portrayals of law enforcement personnel.

In the video, DSP Inbaraj arrives at a crime scene and is greeted by a constable named Sibi. Their initial interaction establishes the film’s humorous tone, as Sibi appears confused about whether to address his senior officer as “sir” or “anna,” meaning elder brother. Inbaraj eventually advises him to stick with “sir.”

As the two move through a crowd gathered outside the crime scene, Inbaraj instructs the people to maintain a distance of one arm from one another. He then questions Sibi about the gathering, referring humorously to the crowd in the context of COVID-related precautions.

When Sibi offers to disperse the crowd, Inbaraj stops him, suggesting that crowds provide opportunities for people to record social media reels. He even instructs Sibi to ask those filming the incident to shoot their videos vertically. The sequence presents the character as a police officer who approaches situations with an unconventional sense of humour.

Another moment in the glimpse shows Inbaraj advising someone against smoking, warning that the habit could affect fertility. However, the same video also depicts the officer smoking a cigarette himself, adding another layer to the character’s seemingly contradictory personality.

The glimpse suggests that Suriya’s DSP Inbaraj will be a street-smart policeman whose behaviour and methods differ from the traditional image of a film police officer. The promotional video relies on humour and character-driven moments rather than offering extensive details about the film’s storyline.

The makers have previously introduced the character of Eeswaran, played by actor Naslen, who appears to be the film’s antagonist. His character glimpse presented him as a “faceless, emotionless, inhuman predator,” establishing a contrasting tone to the personality shown in Suriya’s introduction.

In one scene from Eeswaran’s promotional video, the character tells someone, “Don’t be scared. I won’t kill you. Get the vehicle started.” The dialogue hints at a threatening presence and has added to audience curiosity about the conflict between the principal characters.

The film, produced by Zhagaram Studios, was previously referred to by its working title Suriya 47. It went on floors with a traditional pooja ceremony in the city in December last year. The project brings together Suriya and director Jithu Madhavan, a collaboration that has attracted attention among film enthusiasts.

Nazriya Nazim plays the female lead, while John Vijay and Anandaraj are also part of the cast in pivotal roles. The technical team includes cinematographer Vineeth Augustian, music composer Sushin Shyam, production designer Ashwini Kale and editor Ajmal Sabu. Chethan D Souza is handling the film’s stunt choreography.

With the release of the DSP Inbaraj glimpse, the makers have offered a clearer indication of Suriya’s character and the film’s distinctive approach to the police genre. The November 6 theatrical release is expected to bring the film to audiences worldwide during the Deepavali festive season.
