Prabhas stars as a feared Indian spy in director Hanu Raghavapudi’s historical action film Fauzi. The makers unveiled its gripping birthday teaser and confirmed a worldwide theatrical release on March 19, 2027, raising excitement among fans and moviegoers.

Pan-Indian star Prabhas will portray a brilliant and feared Indian spy in director Hanu Raghavapudi’s much-anticipated historical action film Fauzi. The makers have unveiled a gripping teaser to mark the actor’s birthday and officially announced that the film will arrive in cinemas worldwide on March 19, 2027.

The announcement has generated considerable excitement among fans, particularly after the teaser offered the first major glimpse of Prabhas’s character and the film’s historical setting. The movie was previously scheduled for release on December 3, 2026, but the makers have now confirmed a new theatrical release date.

Taking to social media, director Hanu Raghavapudi celebrated the occasion by introducing Prabhas as India’s “biggest rebel soldier” and wishing the actor on his birthday. His announcement confirmed March 19, 2027, as the film’s worldwide theatrical release date.

Fauzi Teaser Features Subhas Chandra Bose and Adolf Hitler

One of the most striking elements of the teaser is a dramatic sequence featuring Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose meeting German leader Adolf Hitler in Berlin during the Second World War. The scene establishes the film’s historical backdrop and introduces the central idea of an Indian operative whose intelligence and strategic abilities become a threat to British rule.

In the sequence, Bose seeks German assistance to fight the British, whom he describes as a common enemy. Hitler dismisses the possibility of helping India, arguing that Britain has ruled the country for two centuries and making a disparaging remark about Indians and slavery.

Bose responds firmly, declaring his determination to free India from British rule, regardless of whether Germany supports his cause. He then challenges Hitler’s understanding of Indians by referring to the extraordinary capabilities of a mysterious Indian spy known to the British as Fauzi.

According to Bose’s account in the teaser, Fauzi played a crucial role in the Japanese capture of Singapore from British forces. Described as a soldier, strategist and spy, the character is presented as an elusive operative whose identity and methods remain largely unknown to his adversaries.

The teaser further reveals that Fauzi developed an exceptionally difficult code inspired by the Bhagavad Gita. Bose claims that even the British considered the code more challenging to decipher than Germany’s famous Enigma encryption system. When Hitler asks for the spy’s real name, Bose explains that the British know him only as Fauzi.

The sequence positions Prabhas’s character as a resourceful patriot operating behind enemy lines, adding mystery and intrigue to the film’s central narrative.

Hanu Raghavapudi Describes Fauzi as a Patriotic Drama

The film has attracted attention since its announcement last year. Previously referred to by the working title #PrabhasHanu, the project is set in the 1940s and is described as a fictional historical action drama exploring patriotism, human emotions and the political tensions of the British era.

When the title was announced, the makers used Sanskrit shlokas in the promotional material. Explaining the decision, Raghavapudi said the verses were chosen to bring greater philosophical depth to the story of a warrior.

The director clarified that Fauzi is not a mythological film, although it draws philosophical inspiration from the Bhagavad Gita. Instead, the story explores the struggles and emotional conflicts of a character living during a turbulent period in Indian history.

Known for his visually rich storytelling in Sita Ramam, Raghavapudi is expected to bring a grand cinematic treatment to the historical setting, combining action, espionage and emotional storytelling.

Prabhas Leads a Star-Studded Cast

Apart from Prabhas, the film features Imanvi as the female lead. Veteran actors Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Bhanu Chander and Jayapradha are also part of the cast in pivotal roles.

The technical team includes music composer Vishal Chandrasekhar, who previously collaborated with Raghavapudi on Sita Ramam, starring Dulquer Salmaan and Mrunal Thakur. Sudeep Chatterjee is handling cinematography, while Krishna Kanth has written the song lyrics. Sheetal Sharma is responsible for costume design, an important element in recreating the period setting.

The film is expected to be released in multiple languages, reflecting the makers’ ambitions for a broad national and international audience.

Director Urges Fans Not to Share Leaked Images

Earlier this year, Fauzi attracted attention after images reportedly leaked from its sets circulated on social media. Raghavapudi made an emotional appeal to fans, asking them not to share leaked material and to experience the film as intended in theatres.

The production team also issued a warning that accounts circulating unauthorised images could be reported and that necessary action would be taken. The makers emphasised that leaks could compromise the cinematic experience they were carefully developing.

With the new teaser revealing Prabhas as a mysterious Indian spy and the release date now set for March 19, 2027, Fauzi is shaping up to be one of the major historical action releases to watch. Its combination of espionage, patriotism, wartime intrigue and a high-profile cast has further raised expectations among fans and film enthusiasts.
