Actress Kajol celebrates Durga Puja at Mumbai’s North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja pandal, sharing heartwarming moments of interacting with a little girl, serving bhog to devotees and offering prayers. Her message, “Family, Bhakti and Bhog,” captures the festival’s spirit.

Bollywood actress Kajol offered a glimpse into her Durga Puja celebrations at Mumbai’s North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja pandal, sharing heartwarming moments with devotees, interacting affectionately with a little girl and serving bhog during the festive occasion. Describing the essence of the celebrations as “Family, Bhakti and Bhog,” the actress highlighted the traditions and togetherness that make the festival special for her.

On the occasion of Bijoya, Kajol shared a video compilation of moments from the Durga Puja festivities on her social media account. The video captured the actress participating in various rituals, greeting visitors and spending time with devotees at the popular Mumbai pandal.

“Family, Bhakti and Bhog! The three things that the pujos are strung together with,” Kajol wrote alongside the video. She also included folded-hands emoticons and the hashtags #jaimaadurga and #shubhobijoya to mark the occasion.

In the video, Kajol appeared in a bright yellow saree paired with a navy-blue blouse. She completed her traditional look with jhumka earrings and blue bangles, embracing the festive spirit of the celebrations.

One of the most endearing moments in the video showed Kajol interacting with a little girl wearing a pink frock. The child was seen blowing a kiss towards the actress, who responded affectionately. The brief exchange offered a glimpse of the warm interactions that often accompany the festival’s community celebrations.

The video also showed Kajol serving bhog to devotees at the pandal. She greeted people with a smile and participated in the celebrations, reflecting the importance of sharing food and coming together during Durga Puja. In another scene, the actress stood with folded hands and offered prayers as the aarti ceremony took place.

Kajol has long been associated with the Durga Puja celebrations organised by the North Bombay Sarbojanin Durga Puja committee in Mumbai. Her sister, actress Tanishaa Mukerji, and other members of the Mukerji family also participate in the annual festivities, which have become a prominent part of their family tradition.

This year marks the 80th edition of the celebrations, continuing a tradition established in 1948 by filmmaker Sashadhar Mukherjee, his wife Satirani Mukerji and other founding members. Over the decades, the event has been carried forward through successive generations of the family, attracting devotees and visitors during the Durga Puja season.

The celebrations this year also carried an emotional significance for the family following the death of Krishna Mukerji, Kajol and Tanishaa’s mother, on September 22. Krishna had been closely associated with the family’s Durga Puja tradition. A special tribute was held in her memory at the pandal. Rani Mukerji reportedly did not attend this year’s festivities following her mother’s demise.

Kajol’s participation in the annual celebrations frequently draws attention on social media, where videos and photographs of her festive appearances are widely shared. Her involvement extends beyond attending the rituals, as she is often seen interacting with visitors and participating in activities at the pandal.

In October 2024, a video of Kajol at the same pandal went viral after she was seen asking attendees wearing footwear near the idol to move away and urging people not to push against the barricades. The incident highlighted the importance of maintaining order and respecting arrangements at crowded religious gatherings.

Through her latest social media post, Kajol once again shared the personal and cultural significance of Durga Puja. Her message, “Family, Bhakti and Bhog,” brought together three central elements of the celebration: family traditions, devotion to Goddess Durga and the sharing of food with the community.

The video offered followers a look at the actress’s festive moments while reflecting the wider spirit of Durga Puja, a celebration associated with devotion, cultural heritage, family bonds and community participation.
