Airport Police arrested Santosh Biswas after seizing a factory-made pistol, magazine, 14 live cartridges and firearm-related materials during a late-night raid in Bhagalpur. Police registered an Arms Act case and are investigating the weapon’s source and possible illegal connections.

Airport Police have seized a factory-made pistol, a magazine, 14 rounds of live ammunition and other firearm-related materials during a late-night raid at a residence in Bhagalpur under Airport Police Station. One person, identified as Santosh Biswas, has been arrested in connection with the recovery, while an investigation is underway to establish the source of the weapon and ammunition.

According to police information, the operation was conducted following specific intelligence inputs regarding the suspected presence of illegal items at the residence in the Bhagalpur Dargah locality. Acting on the information, a team from Airport Police Station carried out a special raid and secured the premises in the presence of witnesses before conducting a detailed search.

Although the items originally mentioned in the intelligence input were not recovered, the search led to the discovery of a factory-made pistol, 14 live cartridges, a magazine, a pistol pouch and firearm-cleaning oil, among other articles.

Police seized all the recovered materials and took Biswas into custody over his alleged possession of the firearm and ammunition. The seizure is now a key part of the ongoing investigation, with officers seeking to determine how the weapon came into his possession.

The operation was led by Airport Police Station Officer-in-Charge N. Gopal Deb and SDPO (NCC) Subrata Barman. A forensic team was also called to examine the seized materials and assist investigators in collecting relevant evidence.

Following the recovery, the firearm and ammunition were formally processed in the presence of an Executive Magistrate as part of the prescribed procedure.

Addressing the media, SDPO Subrata Barman confirmed that a case had been registered under the relevant provisions of the Arms Act. He said the investigation was continuing to establish the source of the weapon and ammunition and determine whether any other individuals were involved.

Police officials also stated that no previous criminal case against Biswas had been registered at Airport Police Station. Further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the alleged possession of the firearm are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.

The recovery has drawn particular attention because the residence is located near the international border. Investigators are examining the possible origin of the firearm and whether the case has any connection with a wider illegal arms network or other criminal activity.

However, police have not confirmed any such links, and the investigation remains ongoing. Officials are expected to examine the seized materials and other available evidence before drawing further conclusions.

The case highlights the role of intelligence-based operations and forensic examination in investigating suspected illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. Police have continued their probe to establish the facts surrounding the seizure and determine whether further action is required under the law.

Further developments are expected as investigators gather evidence and establish the circumstances surrounding the recovery. The allegations against the arrested person remain subject to the ongoing investigation and due legal process.
