The makers of Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly’s recently released film Bethlehem Kudumba Unit have urged audiences not to record or share snippets and key scenes from theatres on social media, saying the request is aimed at preserving the film’s surprises and the overall big-screen experience for viewers.
Bhavana Studios, the production house that distributed the film, issued the appeal on Monday as the movie continues to receive strong audience response following its worldwide theatrical release on August 21. The statement was subsequently shared by Nivin Pauly on his social media timelines with a brief message asking followers to pay attention to the request.
Expressing gratitude for the response to the film, Bhavana Studios said it was overwhelmed by the unprecedented bookings and the enthusiasm audiences have shown in theatres. The production house then requested viewers to refrain from recording scenes during screenings and posting them online.
The makers specifically appealed to audiences to avoid sharing theatre snippets and key scenes on social media platforms. According to the production house, keeping such moments away from social media would allow viewers to experience the film’s surprises and entertainment without prior exposure.
The appeal comes after Bethlehem Kudumba Unit, directed by Girish AD, emerged as a superhit following its release. The film features Nivin Pauly and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles and has generated considerable interest among Malayalam cinema audiences.
Nivin Pauly had announced the title of the project on his X timeline in July last year. At the time, the actor revealed that he was teaming up with Girish AD and Mamitha Baiju for the film, which was being produced by Bhavana Studios. He had also described the project as something that would be “very special.”
The story of Bethlehem Kudumba Unit has been written by Girish AD and Kiran Josey. The technical crew includes cinematographer Ajmal Sabu, composer Vishnu Vijay and editor Akash Joseph Varghese. Bhavana Studios handled the film’s distribution.
Production on the project began in September last year, marking another collaboration between Nivin Pauly and the team behind the film. Girish AD, who has established himself as a filmmaker with a distinctive style, has directed the project with a story developed alongside Kiran Josey.
Bhavana Studios is backed by filmmaker Dileesh Pothan, actor Fahadh Faasil and scenarist Syam Pushkaran. The production house has been associated with several notable Malayalam cinema projects.
