BWF World Championships 2026: Satwiksairaj Rankireddy & Chirag Shetty to lock horns with Liang Wei Keng & Wang Chang of China

In Badminton, Indian shuttlers will be in action today in the men’s and women’s doubles quarterfinals at the BWF World Championships 2026 in New Delhi. The men’s doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will lock horns with third seeds Liang Wei Keng and Wang Chang of China. The duo defeated Junaidi Arif and Roy King Yap of Malaysia in the pre-quarterfinals 21-23, 21-19, 21-17 in a nail-biting encounter.
In the women’s doubles, the Indian pair of Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will face fourth seeds Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shu Xian of China. The pair defeated seventh seeds Rin Iwanaga and Kie Nakanishi of Japan in straight games, 21-16, 21-12, in the pre-quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, former World champion PV Sindhu, men’s singles shuttler Ayush Shetty and the mixed doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto faced defeats in their pre-quarterfinal clashes, ending India’s run in their respective disciplines. PV Sindhu lost to third seed Wang Zhi Yi in the women’s singles match. Sindhu had lost the first game 11-21 but clawed back in the second game 21-15. However, she lost in the third game 17-21 in a close encounter.

Earlier, shuttler Ayush Shetty lost to Indonesia’s Alwi Farhan in the men’s singles round of 16, 19-21, 11-21. Indian mixed doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto lost to China’s Guo Xin Wa and Chen Fang Hui 16-21, 5-21.
