Tripura CM Dr. Manik Saha urges collective efforts to accelerate the state’s development, highlighting its progress, rising per capita income, investment opportunities, job creation, infrastructure growth, and the need to preserve peace, unity and harmony across communities while supporting traders and workers.
According to a NITI Aayog report, Tripura has now been recognized as a frontrunner in various sectors and is advancing rapidly across departments. The state currently ranks second in the Northeast in terms of per capita income and GSDP. To take the state further forward, everyone needs to work more actively. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said this today while inaugurating the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected committee members of the Tripura Hawkers Union and a blood donation camp, held at the Hawkers Corner premises.
Inaugurating the event, the Chief Minister praised the initiative of the Tripura Hawkers Corner Union, saying the Hawkers Corner has a very old and rich tradition, and that it holds a special place in people’s hearts. Buyers and sellers come to this market from far and wide with great trust and confidence, and cordial relations between owners and workers have been maintained here. He said the Agartala Municipal Corporation must take initiatives to further beautify the Hawkers Corner, and that traders need to work with even greater sincerity to preserve its good reputation. The Chief Minister said this government is a people-friendly government, a government for all communities and tribes alike. The state government wants to maintain harmony and unity between owners and workers, and wants peace to prevail in trade, commerce, and everywhere else. However, he noted, some people are trying to create an atmosphere of unrest in the state.
The Chief Minister said Tripura is no longer where it used to be; it has progressed a great deal. Today, the state’s flavorful honey, pineapples, jackfruit, and other produce are being exported to other states and abroad. This year, around 1,200 businessmen and industry entrepreneurs participated in the Tripura Destination Business Conclave, where MoUs worth Rs. 1,27,000 crore were signed between the state government and domestic and foreign businessmen and industrialists. He said a total of 21,000 government jobs have been given so far, including 5,000 through outsourcing. This year, infrastructure construction and various development works worth over Rs. 1,500 crore have been carried out. He added that rainwater accumulated in Agartala during the monsoon is now drained quickly through pumps.
He said 65 percent of India’s population consists of youth, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi is working to make the country stronger, which has been reflected in actions such as Operation Sindoor, surgical strikes, and countering fuel crises. He said the state government is also moving forward along the path shown by the Prime Minister.

After the inaugural ceremony, the Chief Minister visited the blood donation camp and encouraged the donors. The welcome address was given by the ceremony’s presiding functionary and newly elected president of the Tripura Hawkers Union, Sujit Roy. Also present were Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, Central Zone Chairperson of Agartala Municipal Corporation Ratna Dutta, TRTC Board of Directors member Shyamal Kumar Deb, and newly elected General Secretary of the Tripura Hawkers Union Kajal Lodh, among others. At the event, Suprabhat Debnath, the Returning Officer for the Tripura Hawkers Union election, administered the oath to the newly elected committee members. A total of 51 traders voluntarily donated blood at the camp.
