Indian Grandmaster R Praggnanandhaa defeated Javokhir Sindarov in a second-round match of the Sinquefield Cup in St Louis, United States. It is his first victory in the tournament, which is the penultimate event of the Grand Chess Tour. Praggnanandhaa dominated the game from start to finish. He slowly pressed his advantage in the endgame, which arose from a queen pawn opening.
 
Sindarov chose an endgame that was equal and should have ended in a draw. But he could not match Praggnanandhaa’s determination. The Indian kept pressing and eventually turned the drawn position into a winning one. The game lasted 95 moves. With this victory, Praggnanandhaa moved to 1.5 points from two games.
